4 Proven Ways to Speed Up Your Hiring Process

With unemployment rates near record lows, it is a race by companies to nab the best talent. You have to act FAST today if you want to get the best of the best.

Employees today are quick to leave, with employers needing to be just as quick to hire so that their bottom line doesn't suffer. Companies lose money the longer they are without a talented professional to fill an open position. At the same time, they also spend more money the longer their hiring process is.

To avoid the mistakes other companies have been making to get you AHEAD, here are some of the proven ways with which you can speed up your hiring process.

Ask Your Employees for Referrals

So a position just opened up in your company. Why not ask your closest resource, the current employees? You can send out an internal memo asking them to let you know if they know anyone that would be a whiz at the job.

Better yet, give them some incentive like a cash bonus in exchange for the referral. Chances are that they have friends and acquaintances that work in a similar field as they do and would be a perfect match for the position and the organization's unique culture.

Be Discerning About Who You Interview

Who has the time for tons of interviews?

Interviews take up a lot of time and pull employees away from their usual jobs to spend time interviewing people. Phone screenings are a good way to cut down on how many potential candidates you bring in for interviews.

You should take a more critical look at resumes before any screenings or interviews happen. This will save you precious time so you can get back to doing what needs to be done to keep the lights on.

There is no reason for you to bring in large amounts of people say 10 candidates to interview for one job. If you can narrow down the field of potential candidates to 2-3, that will be plenty.

Set-Up Round Robin Style Interviews

Probably one of the most effective speed-to-hire techniques is to schedule a block of time a week out. Invite all of the key stakeholders so their calendars are also blocked. Have your recruiting team rapidly source and prescreen on the role and set up the top 2-3 candidates back to back. When this is executed most managers can extend an offer within 24-48 hours after the event. It is great for the candidate too as they can see the office and meet with everyone needed during one visit. No need for multiple interviews and risk of losing candidates because they get another offer, faster.

Outsource Your Hiring Process

Let's face it: the hiring process can be EXHAUSTING and time-consuming. Staffing agencies can take most of the work out of the hiring process for you. They help with finding talent, interviewing candidates, and sending you only the qualified employees.
